Solar Street Lights for Bakersfield California

Bakersfield is one of the fastest growing cities in the US. With over 300,000 inhabitants, Bakersfield is the seat of Kern County. Traditionally, Bakersfield’s economy is built around agriculture and oil, but its soul is found in its people. Home of country legend Buck Owens, Bakersfield has its own style of country music known as the Bakersfield Sound, which has evolved with the city.

Could Solar LED Street Lighting Work in Bakersfield?

Bakersfield is a prime candidate for solar street lighting. The city sees precipitation on fewer than 50 days a year.

Major employers in Bakersfield include Bolthouse Farms (juices and produce), Paramount Farms (almonds and pistachios), and Chevron and Aera Energy (oil). Institutional employers include the four major medical centers, Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Kern Medical Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and Southwest Pediatrics.

There is a great deal of current and potential development taking place in and around Bakersfield. Utilizing solar lighting in new civic, commercial, industrial, and private development planning would help the city and its businesses save money while lessening dependence on volatile and expensive energy markets.

Solar LED Lights and Self-Reliance

The city exists along an earthquake fault zone and narrowly escaped damage in the Kern County earthquake of 1952. It experienced aftershocks locally for months. No major earthquakes have rattled the area recently, but the possibility exists, as do fears that infrastructure could be damaged or disabled. Independently powered solar outdoor LED lighting products are self-reliant in the event of disaster, and their presence eliminates the risk of downed or broken wires plunging the city into darkness.
